Jesus Did What? - I Don’t See It But He Said It
Jesus Did What? Part 3
I Don’t See It… But He Said It
John 4:46-54
This week, our message will explore a different kind of tension. As we will discuss, it’s not about a dramatic miracle that people can see; it’s about trusting the word of Jesus when nothing around you has changed. The heart of the message asks the question: What do I do when Jesus speaks… but nothing looks different yet?
1. What resonated with you most from the story of the royal official and his son?
2. Have you ever received a cryptic text message or note that left you wondering what was happening? Please share a funny or memorable experience with the group.
3. Consider a time when you had to trust God's word without seeing immediate results. How did that experience influence your faith?
4. Jesus doesn’t need to be physically present to release supernatural power. He doesn’t need to work through the methods we expect. The Word of Jesus represents the presence of Jesus, and where His word goes, His power follows. Pastor James said, "Your movement is a mirror of what you truly believe." In which areas of your life might God be calling you to "move" based on His promises?
5. How does the concept of "the miracle is already in motion" challenge or inspire you in your current circumstances?
6. Read Isaiah 55:11 (NIV): “So is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” When God speaks, that word carries a delivery assignment. It doesn’t return to Heaven until it hits the target. But here’s the tension most of us live in: we want to see something before we believe something. How do signs and wonders influence our belief today? Should they?
7. Read John 4:8. Jesus wants your faith to be rooted in something more durable than signs—He wants it to be rooted in His word. Why? Because signs can fade, emotions change, and circumstances go up and down. But His promises never fail. How can we learn to trust God’s word even when we don’t see immediate results?
8. Read 2 Corinthians 1:20. Every promise in Scripture—whether it’s about peace, provision, healing, purpose, or protection—already has a “Yes” stamped on it because of what Jesus has done. You’re not waiting for God to approve it. He already did at the cross. Now all that’s left is for you to say “Amen”—to agree. How can you demonstrate your trust in the promises of God even before you see proof?
9. Read Philippians 4:6-7. Peace is not something you earn once you finally calm down. According to this passage, how do believers experience the peace of God?
10. Read John 4:50. We often want God to show us the miracle first, and then we’ll decide if we’ll follow. But that’s not how the kingdom works. Miracles meet you on the road of obedience. Sometimes, the greatest expression of faith is simply doing what Jesus told you to do—without drama, without delay, and without needing all the details. What role does trust play in this verse—and in our daily relationship with God?
11. This week, identify a promise from Scripture that applies to a situation you're facing. What is one practical step you can take to "walk out" that promise in faith?
